¡QUE VIVA LA LUCHA!
UNT LULAC Collegiate Council was created as a vehicle to take action against injustices of the Latino students on campus. Several students, John Hinojosa, Sujey Vega, Crystal Alba, Christina Bejareno, and Victoria Neave, along with Dr. Vincent Ramos met many times to strategize and pave the road for a proactive student organization. Today , a full slate of officers, along with many committed members comprise the UNT LULAC Collegiate Council.
We are an organization that still fights the fight. Que viva La Lucha! We are not bad tempered angry Latinos, but we are educated human beings that understand it is necessary to fight for our basic human rights. Our forefathers started LA LUCHA many years ago, and it continues today. WE MUST NOT FORGET WHERE WE CAME FROM. The fight was important for Chavez then, and it's important for all of us now. Remember your history, thrive in your culture and stand with Pride in your familia. Our families have fought LA LUCHA all their lives, and the lives of nuestros Latinos will not be in vain.
The League of United Latin American Citizens is the oldest and largest Latino organization in the entire nation and Puerto Rico. LULAC was founded on February 17, 1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
